Off into space: Linde and Chiara on their very first journey through the Laikaverse
We very recently welcomed two new crew members to the Laika mothership. Our spaceship was in need of some Belgium and Dutch power! In this blog post, you will get to know more about this dynamic duo and learn why they started their (space) adventure with Laika.
Give a warm welcome to our first space cadet, Linde
This Belgium astronaut studies international graphic and digital media (pictured on the left). She speaks Dutch, English, a little French, and she is getting familiar with the German language. She started her space adventure on the first of February. One can say she started with a bang. She learned a lot, in just her first weeks. The first days, she became acquainted with the general workflow, and the commonly used programs and software. After that, came monitoring and researching journalists from different outlets, among other tasks.
Linde states, “During this internship, I would love to learn more about the communications side, because I’m planning to start studying communications management back home. I feel like the internship is the perfect mix between using the skills I already have and gaining new ones.”
In addition to how passionate she is about her work goals, she has another passion she loves doing in her spare time. If you need any advice on how to land a perfect pirouette, she is the one to talk to! Besides her love for dance, you can find her in the kitchen quite often. She doesn’t have one favorite dish she likes to make, but prefers instead trying new dishes and baked goods.
Ready, set, say hello to Chiara
Next up—Chiara (pictured on the right), our newest crew member, hailing from the Netherlands. This space dog is trading the culture of Amsterdam for the art of Berlin.
For Chiara, an internship was required for her communications studies, and before she came to bolster our crew, she was a part-time junior online marketeer at a Dutch firm. Because she felt that this was not her final destination, and because she wanted to learn more about the different facets of communications, she decided to join us on our mission at Laika. We are more than happy that she decided to expand her knowledge with us on her new adventure.
Chiara explains, “I see this internship as an opportunity to gain more knowledge about PR and corporate communications. This last month, I learned that the team is not only crazy about dogs and all types of food, but they have a lot of experience and wisdom about this comms universe to share. Every day, I have new tasks, all very informative. My favorite general task is doing research for different clients. I also had my first client meeting with a brand manager from Europe, which was a very informative and special moment.”
In her spare time, Chiara enjoys going for a run in the beautiful parks near her home. Besides running, she likes to explore the art of Berlin.“My favorite part is the street art, at every corner you can find art. Some might say that it’s vandalism, some say it’s art. In my opinion, it’s a creative combination of both, which I totally like and get creatively inspired from,” says Chiara.
To kick things off, we welcomed them both with Asian food and pizza. There is a rumor that food tastes much better at many thousands of meters above sea level. We are very happy to work with these happy ladies. Cheers to more (food) adventures!
Welcome to the crew Linde and Chiara!
