Meet our A-Team!

In the last months the Laika pack was injected with new blood. As some of you may know (or have pointed out hehe), at the end of last year there were only women at Laika and some change was in the air. So today, we proudly present our A-Team. Let’s get to know them:

Sorted by time of entry

Tolgahan (aka TA) - still playing

Tolgahan was really the first man in the Laika Orbit. A small step for him, a big one for mankind. After his studies of literature and philosophy where his passion was reading and writing lyrics, he gained ground in the video gaming industry. He worked for several game productions as a writer in Berlin before becoming a narrative designer for Yager.

Afterwards he took a break from gaming to travel Turkey and other countries walking and thinking about what he wanted to do next. As beside computer games his other passions are comic books, he started to find his way in the comic book world. His writing skills made it easy for him to find projects to work on. As time passed along, his path and Laika’s crossed and he decided to hop into our spaceship where he is taking care of clients from the video gaming industry, live streaming and sustainability sector.

In his free time Tolgahan sticks true to himself and is video gaming a lot and reads comic books. But he also enjoys reading other topics ranging from history over politics up to literature. This inspires his photography projects, too. Further, he loves to cook, bake and eat, most favorable with a lot of friends.

Leo (aka Lace) - making the world a better place

Leo is the puppy in our pack. Full of energy trying to make our world a better place. He worked for social causes in Ghana before his studies of politics and economics in Münster. From theory he went to practice again and did an internship for a politician in the Bundestag.  At the moment, he is studying Integrated Natural Resource Management at HU Berlin enriching both the studies with insights from the working experience at Laika and the know-how from the Master’s degree respectively.

He supports the team with research and editing duties as nobody digs more persistent and deeper than a young space dog. Leo is also part of the social media department, developing Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter strategies and content.

In his free time Leo loves to move. He plays volleyball and badminton, enjoys hiking  and juggling. Seems like he cannot sit still as he is playing instruments as well. Not only one, but three: guitar, clarinet and saxophone.

Can (aka Candoch) - the wanderer

Can grew up in the far West. He studied communications in Aachen but decided early on that he has always been a shoe made for the city. During his studies he already moved to the US to not only study there, but to begin his professional journey as well. His path brought him to New York, London, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Riga before coming to Berlin. He worked mainly in brand consulting for FutureBrand, Ogilvy and other agencies. Can collaborated with clients such as Nike, Ebay or Unilever to name just a few.

At one point he took a break from branding to take part in a performing arts program. And that didn’t stop him from also building a stronger brand for the institute he was attending! Always on, this one!  After some time in the cultural and academic environment he started to work in the consulting business again. He stopped wandering to work for Laika as being in space makes him feel that he arrived.

Can is a sports enthusiast. However, he considers himself more of a fan, rather than athlete. He spends a lot of time watching football (soccer), American football or basketball matches. Besides that, he likes to cook while listening to Hip Hop or Pop music.

Malte (aka Malibal) - knowledge never sleeps

Last but not least there is Malte. He studied biochemistry and culture & technology. Since his interests are multiple, he looked for an area where at least a lot of these can be found. Medicine is the field that suited him best. He managed doctors offices on a larger scale and would eventually transition to the position of director of the occupational doctors union. He is currently still occupying that position part time and the other half of his time he is committed to Laika’s team. Malte is personally assisting the CEO, as well as other team needs to make it an even more awesome place to work. Fun fact: he is also currently enrolled in business law. We are all wondering if this dog ever sleeps.

When Malte has some time off he loves to travel the world where he likes to scuba-dive and watch beautiful fish and corals. But even he likes to stay at home sometimes and simply play an awful lot of playstation.

Welcome to our crew, dear A-Team. Be proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
